Symptoms of a substance abuse problem are as follows: Increased tolerance - the need to use greater quantities of the substance to achieve the same effects Loss of control over usage - using more than you planned Family history - any family member with a history of drug/alcohol problems Preoccupation - thoughts and lifestyle centered around obtaining and using the substance Withdrawal symptoms - feeling anxious, irritable, sleep difficulty, nausea and vomiting, physical aggitation, difficulty concentrating, sweating or rapid pulse and shakiness Concern of self - failed attempts to try to quit on your own Concern of others about usage Legal problems as a result of usage Medical problems as a result of usage Relationship problems as a result of usage Financial problems as a result of usage
